The Paddywack Team
Bill Slocum
As a proud Canberra resident for over three decades, my journey into the world of promotional products began after a fantastic 15-year run in commercial radio, notably at 2CC. In 1993, I decided it was time for a change and I made the leap into a new adventure – becoming the owner of Paddywack.
It’s pretty incredible to think that more than 30 years have flown by since that momentous decision. Paddywack has not just endured but thrived, and I owe that success to the incredible support from our loyal customers, trustworthy suppliers, and the fantastic efforts of our dedicated staff, both past and present.
Throughout these three decades, my main focus has been on delivering top-notch products and services to our cherished clients. Some could say I’ve become a bit of an expert in the industry, delving into the nuances of everything from high-tech gadgets to everyday items like pens and coffee mugs.
On a personal note, my family has grown, and I now have the joy of six grandchildren adding laughter and energy to our lives. When I’m not at work, you can often find me enjoying quality time with them or hitting the golf course, which has become a bit of a second home.
Looking back on the past 30 years in the industry, one of the most significant changes has been the shift in competition. Fifteen years ago, we were mostly competing with other businesses in Canberra. Now, it’s a whole world out there. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m excited for what the future holds for Paddywack and the ever-evolving world of promotional products.

Managing both day-to-day accounts and overseeing our operations is a rewarding journey, offering a positive impact for both our suppliers and customers. This dual responsibility has been a part of my role for a number of years, and it’s a dynamic aspect that I continue to embrace.
Before my current role, I spent over four years as the Production and Client Services Manager at our sister company, Ideas and Directions Advertising Agency. Additionally, I have a background in the finance industry and have held various roles in retail and customer service. These experiences have equipped me with a well-rounded set of skills that I believe will serve me well in my continued responsibilities.
On a personal note, I’m not just dedicated to my work at Paddywack; I’m also a proud parent. My two wonderful children, Hazel (4) and Edmund (1), keep me on my toes both at work and at home.
Outside of work, my great love for travel has taken me to various corners of the world. I’ve lived for a year each in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Alberta, Canada (on a Turkey Farm, of all places!). I’ve driven across America twice, explored Europe, and traversed the UK extensively. My adventurous spirit is always seeking the next exciting journey, although that is on hold for now while I raise my babies and until the become old enough to join me.
When I’m not at work or planning my next adventure, I cherish spending time with my friends and family, including spoiling my niece and three nephews. I’m thrilled to continue contributing to the success of Paddywack Promotions and look forward to the positive impact we can create together.

My journey with the Slocum family began when I joined Pamela’s full-service advertising agency, Ideas and Directions. It’s been quite a ride, and I’ve loved every moment of my time in the agency. Starting as the General Manager. Pamela made the decision to (semi) retire so closed the agency to become a sole trader. For me, joining Paddywack seemed completely natural. Same family, same focus just a different office.
Over the years, my dedication to the industry and commitment to excellence led me to take on the role of Production Manager. In this capacity, I oversee all aspects of the production process, ensuring that each job is handled with precision and efficiency. It’s a role I’m passionate about, and I’m grateful for the opportunities to grow and contribute to our ventures.
Outside the professional realm, I’m a proud grandmother, blessed with three adorable grandchildren. My weekends are dedicated to creating precious memories with them, adding a wonderful balance to my life. My journey with the Slocum family has been filled with growth, challenges, and joy. I’m excited about the future and the continued success of our endeavors.
